Hollow core roofing system

Hollow core slabs are precast and pre-stressed concrete elements with continuous voids to reduce weight and cost, and hence provide an efficient structural system. Slabs are cast with advanced extrusion technique and can be used as flooring and roofing systems. The primary purpose of cores/voids running through the slab continuously is to decrease self-weight and material usage, yet maintaining the maximal strength. These voids are also a very good source of heat and sound insulation and can also be used as ducts for concealed services such as plumbing, electrification and air conditioning. Hollow core slabs can be used with virtually all types of structural systems including cast in-situ and precast concrete beams, load bearing walls and steel structures.
